Good News. A member of our community, David Gerardot, is in the process of being incardinated as a priest in the ECC community.

CONGRATULATIONS! Our sister Rev. Jessica Rowley who, in just over a year and a half has graduated
from seminary, been Ordained a priest and started a new job as Associate Pastor
of Sts. Clare and Francis Ecumenical Catholic Community in metro-St. Louis, has
now become the first woman Catholic priest to give birth. Jessica, and her
husband Joe (a UCC pastor also in the metro-St. Louis area), welcomed Finn
Michael Rowley on Thursday, November 20. Finn, according to Uncle Frank, is the
epic hero of the Irish people --- quite a legacy of strength, depth and
connection. In the early days though, as he grows into his beautiful
name, Mommy, Daddy and Baby Finn are reportedly doing well!

We are pleased to announce to you all that the Ecumenical Catholic Communion has been officially recognized as a legitimate faith community by the Association of Professional Chaplains, the national association which certifies Chaplains based on credentials of a masters in theology or divinity and 1600 hours of supervised clinical work and 400 hours of classroom training. This now allows chaplains from the ECC, who are not certified, to attain certification through proper training and ECC endorsement.

Spiritus Dei ECC is a tithing community: Our last tithe, 5% of our income, was
donated to Merciful Love Connection’s work with unwed mothers in Chile. We also tithe 5% of our quarterly income to
the National Ecumenical Catholic Communion. (Emmaus ECC is part of this tithe, since we have been contributing our funds to them for the past year. Once we are incorporated we will also be a tithing community).

About
nine members of Spiritus Dei ECC regularly meet to discuss books that have enriched our prayer and
ministry experience and sparked energetic dialogue and personal sharing.
Currently we’re reading The Prophet’s Way, Touching the Power of Life by
Thom Hartmann, described as a
“. . . .marvelous, true-life spiritual adventure story. Hartmann makes his
fractal pilgrim’s progress along the edge of chaos---social, political,
psychological and spiritual . . . to the presence of God.” We previously read, Radical hospitality,
Benedict’s Way of Love, Holman and Pratt; The Discerning Heart,
Wilkie & Noreen Au; Radical Amazement, Contemplative Lessons from Black
Holes, Supernovas, and other Wonders of the Universe, Judy Cannato.
